Megan & Drew | Summer Wedding in Perryville, MD

Wedding

August 30, 2018

Megan and Drew’s ceremony was held at their family church in Rising Sun, Maryland. When I arrived, Megan had all of their beautiful, classic details together for me so that I could make the most of my time photographing them! The bride and groom chose not to do a first look so there was a lot of anticipation leading up to the big walk down the aisle. The ceremony was full of meaningful touches like Dad walking the bride down the aisle, a sand pouring ceremony symbolizing two lives becoming one and the bride’s sister singing a song for the couple. After the “I dos” and the first kiss, the newlyweds were greeted by their guests with the most beautiful bubble exit. Can’t you see the pure bliss on their faces?! I love it!

Their portraits were held nearby their venue at the historical Rodger’s Tavern Museum in Perryville, MD. The Tavern, now a museum, was originally owned by the Rodger’s family and served popular historical figures including George Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Lafayette and Rochambeau especially during the Revolutionary War. Click HERE if you want to read more about the history behind this gorgeous property or even plan a visit! It’s right on the water and it’s absolutely beautiful!

Rodger’s Tavern on the Susquehanna River was the perfect backdrop for Megan and Drew’s first portraits as husband and wife! These two have an undeniable love and I couldn’t help but get the feeling that the fire inside them burns for each other. Most of what you see here is “unposed” and these two just interacting as newlyweds. When portraits were done, we rejoined their guests back at the venue for some emotional parent dances (I might have gotten misty-eyed along with all of their guests), a wonderful meal and a night full of dancing!

Megan and Drew, it was my absolute honor to photograph your wedding! Enjoy!

The love story from Megan:

“My best friend, Ceara’s cousin, Alicia, who is married to Drew’s brother set us up! They had a game night at their house and invited us. We both knew they wanted us to meet/that they thought we would be good together so we went. We talked and had a good time at the game night and before I left he asked for my number and if I wanted to go out sometime. We started texting a few days later and went out on our first lunch date and the rest is history. We fell for each other hard and fast! Within a month we both knew we would be getting married. We started dating in February and were engaged by late September.

The proposal was absolutely perfect! It was a complete surprise – Drew did a good job at hiding everything. He started planning in July, he asked for my parents permission then took one of my best friends with him to pick out a ring. My family was going on vacation to the Outer Banks in September and Drew was coming along. He knows how much I love the beach so that was the perfect place to propose. He made sure that my younger sister had done my hair so it would look nice and then when we were waiting for dinner he asked if I wanted to go for a walk on the beach. As we’re walking along the beach I’m looking for seashells because I like to collect them and I found a perfect conch shell. I ran to the ocean to wash the shell off in the water and when I turned around Drew was down on one knee! I was so shocked and overjoyed that I was speechless at first. Of course I ran to him, hugged him, and said yes! We spent some time by ourselves on the beach and then went back to the house to tell my family. It was definitely my dream proposal and a day I will never forget!

Most of the time we just like being together whether it’s going to the movies, out to dinner or watching tv on the couch. Of course I’m excited about getting married but I’m more excited to celebrate with all of my friends and family. I’ve been dreaming about my wedding forever! I’m also very excited to wear my wedding dress – I absolutely love it and I’m not going to want to take it off.”
